Black entertainment blogs all over the ‘net are reporting that former USA and actress Kenya Moore got married to Dr. Rudolph Moise (prominent Haitian doctor in Florida, and well-known actor in the Haitian community) got ‘married’ this week in the Caribbean and that her ex-boyfriend (NFL player) tried to interrupt the wedding and caused drama.  *Sucking teeth*

The funny part is that it’s NOT a real wedding!  What the blogs didn’t do the research to find out (or maybe didn’t care to) is that this “wedding” is a scene in a new movie that Dr. Moise is filming and Kenya Moore is playing the lead role.

Dr. Moise is ALREADY married in real life.  I guess reporting that it was a scene from a movie is too ‘boring’ to write about.  Whatever.  Don’t believe everything you read out there, people!

Big things coming from the producers of Tele Lakay!

During the summer, Tele Lakay held auditions for the first season of Island Star. Island Star is the upcoming singing competition that will showcase talent from all across the Caribbean. Yes, sort of like American Idol, but this show is for us–the Caribbean community–and will show the world we have talent too!

After the auditions, the six contestants remained. Though the competition was open to both guys and gals, the 6 remaining contestants are all female. Woo hoo! Ladies represent!!! ;)  Click here to meet the Island Star contestants.

Gad’on tintin!  What is going on HERE?! I mean, I take fun pictures with my girls all the time in the club, but NOTHING like this? Why is Rihanna all on her friend/dancer like this???

As ladies we have tons of pressure to ‘look perfect’: hair, nails, face, teeth, legs, BODY, etc, etc. And it doesn’t help that as BLACK women we have to work that much harder to be accepted in society, not to mention the women in the Entertainment business. If your look isn’t on point in ‘The Biz”, probability is very high that you won’t work. So what’s a girl to do? It seems the answer of most women in the industry (entertainment), is : IF YOU DON’T HAVE IT, BUY IT. That means breast enhancements, BUTT enhancements, teeth veneers, contacts, nails. Yo. It’s out of control…

I was watching TV today and happened to notice a commercial for video vixen, Angel Lola Luv. If you don’t know her by name, if you’re a Hip Hop or R&B fan, chances are very, very high that you’ve seen her in a few music videos. She’s in most of G-Units videos, a few Hype Williams videos, and was the main girl in Trey Songz video for the song, “Wonder Woman”. Trust me, you’ve seen her before. (more…)

Garcelle had the baaaabiieeeees!  Finally, right?  She gave birth last week.  Here’s the story from People.com:

“MONDAY OCTOBER 22, 2007 06:50 PM EDT

Actress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon and husband Michael Nilon welcomed twin boys, her rep tells PEOPLE.

Jax Joseph Nilon was born at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and weighed 4 lbs. 7 oz., and Jaid Thomas Nilon was born at 8:31 p.m. and weighed 4 lbs. 9 oz.

“We’re so in love with them,” Beauvais-Nilon tells PEOPLE. “They boys are just gorgeous.”

The twins, who were born in Los Angeles, join Oliver, the actress’s 15-year-old son from a previous marriage.

Friends such as Angie Harmon and Virginia Madsen have already showered the boys with gifts, including individual outfits from Janie & Jack and Gymboree.

“She wants to establish each twin’s own identity,” says a friend who attended the actress’s baby shower last month. “She doesn’t want to dress them up the same.”

Beauvais-Nilon announced her pregnancy last June to PEOPLE, saying, “We are over the moon and feel very blessed.”

Congratulations again to the beautiful Garcelle and her family!

This past weekend I attended the movie premiere for the upcoming Haitian-American feature film from Telescope Films, Life Outside of Pearl, starring Jimmy Jean-Louis, Rudolph Moise, Carole Demesmin, Natacha Noel, and Freddie Robinson, Jr.

The event took place at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ this past Saturday, October 13th, 2007. Newark, NJ was the first stop in the worldwide premiere tour that the cast and crew will be embarking on.

First off, before I get into the movie premiere, on a personal level, I want to congratulate my near and dear friend, and future movie star (remember her name, you will see it everywhere very soon) Natacha Noel on her major movie debut! I’m so proud of my girl and she looked absolutely amazing!! Here she is with her co-star, Freddie Robinson, Jr. Don’t they look great!?

By the way, since this is a blog focused on us women, I’ve gotta give the details on Natacha’s makeup and fashion, right?  Of course!

Natacha’s fabulous skirt is designed by Rush Couture by Claudette Floyd, and her make-up was done by the super fabulous (and belle fanm Haitian-Canadienne) Lili (be sure to check out Lili’s make-up blog, Pretty by Choice too for make-tips and advice!)

Stop believing what all those news channels are force feeding us to believe about our beautiful country and what it looks like. Yes, it’s true there are many poor areas, and yes it’s true that tourism in our country could be A LOT better, but the entire island is NOT what you see on television. We are not animals.

We have a beautiful country and are a beautiful people.

I found some gorgeous pictures of our Haiti Chérie on various sites on-line. You think those other Caribbean islands are the only ones with beautiful landscaping and beaches? Gadé comment payi nou bel!

Edited to add:  I have to make a few corrections.  Wyclef’s new album will be named “Memoirs of an Immigrant“.  And the female singer in the song, Niia, is NOT the Nia from Zin as I reported in an earlier post.   They show quick glimpses of her in the video, but here’s some pics I found online of her on Wire Image:

Not sure who she is, or where she’s from, but something tells me we will all know very very soon.  I think she has a very pretty voice.

Interesting direction Wyclef went in for his new video for “Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)” featuring Akon, Lil’ Wayne and Niia (not a typo, that’s how it’s spelled in the video).   This is the song I wrote about a few weeks ago .   I love the song, not so crazy about the video.  I wish the artists were actually in the video though instead of the “talking heads”.  Ah well…
